February 14th will be our 100th day of school. We will be doing various 100th day activities in class, and there will be a family project as well. I will be sending home details soon, but if you want to get a head start it will involve collecting 100 small objects and putting them on a poster for display. Please do not use food items, we don't want to invite any unwelcome critters into our room. Also, please be aware of the size and weight of your display. Remember, I have to hang them on the wall and I have to fit 24 of them, so not too large (it should be no larger than half a standard poster board) or too heavy (pennies usually make them too heavy to hang for example). You may help your child to group the objects by 10s, 5s, 2s, or even use them to make an interesting design. Be creative and work together, but most importantly, HAVE FUN! Please bring projects to school by Thursday, Feb 13. Thank you for your cooperation.
Due to ACCESS testing, there will be no homework this week, Jan. 13-17. Please continue to read with your child and practice reading, writing, and math skills at home. Regular homework will resume on Tuesday Jan. 21. Thank you for your cooperation.
Hello, I hope that everyone has had a nice and relaxing break. There was a homework packet sent home for practice. The idea was for students to complete 1-2 pages a day over the break to maintain skills. I do not want the children to stress out about completing the entire packet in a short amount of time. Please return any completed portion when school resumes.
With winter almost here, it is important to practice putting on winter gear. Please make sure your child can put on all his or her cold weather gear with minimal help. Practice the order to put things on in and how to turn things inside right. This helps us all to get out of the door on time for dismissal. Thanks!
Today your child should have brought home the latest family project. Please work together and get creative to make a snowman (or snow-woman, snowcat, snowdeer, etc) that will be on display at school. I have included one sheet of card stock paper, but you are not required to use it. You may use anything other than food (we don't want any little critters) to create your snowman. However, please keep weight in mind, if it is too heavy, I will not be able to hang it. Have fun! Projects are due Monday, December 9, 2013.
Hello, today your child should have brought home the Turkey in Disguise project. This is meant to be a fun family project. Please help your child to create a fun disguise for his/her turkey. Then help him/her to write what the turkey might be saying in order to hide out. Be creative and have fun. Please return the completed project by Monday Nov. 18. so that I can put them out on display. Thank you!
On Thursday, Nov. 14 we will be discussing college and careers. Your child may dress up as the career they would like to have when they grow up. He/she should be prepared to explain to the class what career it is and why he/she chose it. Students who choose not to dress up must wear the regular school uniform.
I have asked each child to bring in two leaves that they find interesting for a fall leaf project this week. Please help your child find 2 colorful leaves with interesting shapes to bring in. Please make sure they are not green, crunchy, or wet. Thank you!
Hello,
I am eager to meet with each of you to discuss your children's progress so far this year. I have some reminders for report card day to share with you.
Thank you for your cooperation and I look forward to seeing everyone! Our first field trip is coming up soon. Your child should have brought home a permission slip. One parent or adult per child is welcome to attend for free. Each child must pay $8.00 with or without a parent attending. Please make sure your child's name is on any payment.
