Your child should have brought home a note today about our Fall Celebration, which will take place on October 31. If you did not receive the note, please let me know.
If you are interested in ordering from Scholastic book clubs, you may do so online here, our code is GLLGL. You may also turn in the order form with check or cash and I will place the order for you. Happy Reading!
Please take a moment to see some things we've been doing in class in the Our Classroom Updates tab! I have also added a few new items to the Parent Resources, please check back periodically for more resources.
Hello everyone,
I know there has been a little confusion about gym and jeans days. On gym days only students may wear gym uniforms and all white gym shoes. They may also wear their regular school uniform. On jeans days students may wear blue jean pants, no colored jeans, shorts or skirts, and their regular uniform shirt. We had a little miscommunication due to the preschool color of the month. That is only for pre-k students. Thank you for all your patience and cooperation. Monday is picture day! Please make sure you have any picture orders in by Monday morning, either online or in the envelope provided to you. Students may dress up for their pictures, however jeans are NOT allowed. If you have any questions, please see me before or after school, or send me an e-mail.
Some parents have been asking me questions, so I'd like to address them here, where all can get the answers.
Q: Can I get a lunch menu? A: I do not have paper copies, but you can access the breakfast and lunch menus here. Q: What happened to the supplies? A: Many of the supplies are being used in various ways in the classroom (for example the notebooks are used for reading, math, and science journals). Your child's red homework folder and box of supplies will travel back and forth from home to school each day. Q: When is gym? A: Monday, please have your child wear gym shoes and pants or gym uniform. Q: What time does school actually start? A: Instruction begins at 8:30AM, but students are allowed into the building at 8:22AM . The teacher begins at 8:30AM. Q: What about homework? A: Your child will bring home homework every day, unless otherwise noted. They will also occasionally bring home projects. Q: What about parent meetings? A: There are school-wide parent meetings, which you can find in the the school's calendar. We do not have any Kindergarten parent meetings scheduled at this time. Q: Can I volunteer? A: Yes, there is more information coming shortly, please check your child's backpack and folder every day. Your children have started their educational journey. Thank you parents for arriving and picking up your children on time and for doing all your "homework," getting those forms turned in. Today I sent your children home with their first homework project. It is a little booklet called "All About Me." Please help your children to complete the project and bring it back to school on Tuesday. Next week your child will begin bringing home one sheet of homework daily, as well as an occasional project. I would like to remind parents to review the dress code policy closely, as we will begin enforcing it next week. Finally, we are hoping to have class numbers placed on the ground soon, but please know that where we line up in the morning is also where I will be doing dismissal. Please try to stay in our designated area so that pick-up can run as smoothly as possible. Thank you!
I want to say thank you to everyone for coming on the first day of school. It was very exciting to meet all of you. In the coming days we will be establishing rules and routines for our class. With that in mind, I would like to ask that you please check your child's backpack EVERY day for new information. There are several forms we need filled out at the beginning of every school year. This is your child's homework for the first week or two of school. Please make sure to fill them out promptly and completely and return them to school as soon as possible. Below I will list the forms you should be expecting. Thank you for your cooperation.
We are going to have an exciting adventure this year helping your children to become little readers, writers, scientists, artists, mathematicians, musicians, and so much more. I am looking forward to working with all of you to guide your children down the path of success and lifelong learning.
